How Can I Become An AFC Caregiver?

caregiverAn Adult Foster Care (AFC) caregiver may be a relative or a friend, or may be unrelated to an AFC member. An AFC caregiver may not be the spouse or a legal guardian of the member.

An AFC caregiver must be at least 18 years of age and be able to make mature and informed decisions with no mental, physical or other impairments that would interfere with their ability to meet the needs of the AFC member. He or she must be able to devote the time necessary to provide the needed personal care to the AFC member and to ensure the member’s safety and well being at all times.

AFC caregivers are subject to their physician’s approval and background screening, including criminal background (CORI), and driver record checks. AFC caregivers receive ongoing training and support from Beacon Adult Foster Care, Inc.
